Norwood Youth Softball participates in the Charles River Softball League in the fall season. The CRSL is a travel league that includes other nearby towns such as Dedham, Lexington, Medfield, Milton, Natick, Needham, Waltham, Watertown, Wellesley and the areas of Boston that comprise the Parkway Girls Softball League. The season is 5-6 weeks starting after Labor Day. Games are played as double headers on Sunday mornings (9 a.m. and 11 a.m.) with the home team switching for each game. The CRSL is less competetive than the Hockomock summer league. Games have umpires, but there are no standings, and no playoffs in the CRSL. The emphasis is on allowing the girls an opportunity to extend their playing season and develop.
The number of teams will be based on registrations for each age group.
Age brackets for 2022 are:
8U - Birth years 2013/1014
10U – Birth years 2011/2012
12U – Birth years 2009/2010
14U – Birth years 2007/2008
Players can not play down a level, but they can play up, and frequently other towns move girls up an age division in the fall to prepare them for the upcoming spring and summer seasons. The age divisions that we enter teams for will be based on our overall enrollment. We can enter multiple teams in any age division. If there are multiple teams entered from a single age division, the talent will be distributed evenly over those teams. Tryouts will be held, if necessary, to determine team placement.
The cost for fall ball is $80 for the season. Uniforms include a jersey with Mustangs logo and number.
